Polish Hill Residents Jake Peterson and Lauren Adams has an interesting project at the Mattress Factory. This weekend is a great time to see their project and have a little Space Invader fun–

Space Invaders is an open structure event where participants will be able to interact with various experts and researchers. The theme of this event is “Better Living Through Robots,” and will feature demonstration stations that will teach visitors different interpretations of how robots can benefit their lives. Presenters include Internet spammers demonstrating online revenge tactics, a hip hop dancer teaching visitors how to “do the robot,” a regenerative tissue researcher and his specially bred hairless lab rats, the Pittsburgh debut of the Chiara, CMU roboticists Dave Touretzky and Ethan Tira-Thompson’s open source educational robot, and more. Visitors are encouraged to visit the welcome station and receive an explanatory map before beginning their tour.

Representatives from local Pittsburgh organizations and businesses mentioned above include: Dance Alloy Theatre, Eyeflow Internet Marketing, Carnegie Mellon University’s Computer Science Department Tekkotsu Lab in partnership with RoPro Design, and Regenerative Medicine Researcher from the University of Pittsburgh.

This all ages educational demonstration is presented by Lauren F. Adams and Jake Peterson as part of the Robot 250 initiative and is presented in conjunction with Meet The Made. This event is free and open to the public.

The Mattress Factory is located in Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhood, and is open from 1-5 on Sunday. Free parking is available. For more information, visit their website at www.mattress.org
