“Imagine what our real neighborhoods would be like, if each of us offered as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person… One kind word has a wonderful way of turning into many.” – Fred Rogers
Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Day is an annual event to celebrate Fred Rogers and his legacy of neighborliness on his birthday. Neighbors everywhere are encouraged to wear his or her favorite sweater and promote neighborliness in their neighborhood. What a wonderful way to celebrate the birthday of Mr. Rogers. The website has provided a toolkit of activities that you can organize in your neighborhood to celebrate the day. If you haven’t planned anything for the day, you could make it a point to contact your favorite non-profit organization and volunteer for one of their projects. Or give a neighbor a hand weeding their garden. Celebrate the day with kindness.
I tried this line at a a few South Side bars.
Ladies, I’m looking for a few good neighbors.
