Romare Bearden's Pittsburgh Recollections

Romare Beardon’s mural has graced the wall of the Gateway Center subway station for over 25 years. Over that amount of time, it was bound to sustain some damage.Port Authority is in the process of raising the funds to repair and move the mural.

Mr. Bearden’s work, titled “Pittsburgh Recollections,” was appraised at $15 million last year. It was installed in 1984 as part of the original Downtown subway construction, and has sustained water damage and an accumulation of grime over the years. Read the Post Gazette article
