Samantha McDonough conceived of a project called Art Out of the Box, in which artists work in a temporary outdoor studio. She designed a nifty portable studio (pictured above) that will spend a week in five different neighborhoods, one of which is Polish Hill (the other neighborhoods are Friendship, Lawrenceville, Central North Side, and the South Side).
Samantha has put out a call for artists to work in this mobile studio, and the deadline to apply is February 18th. This sounds like a fun gig for the sort of artist who likes interacting with the public, and it comes with a pretty decent stipend for one week’s work. Check out the Art Out of the Box website for more information and a download-able application. We also have information sheets at the PHCA office.
The Polish Hill Art Out of the Box location will be right next to the PHCA office, and the residency will overlap with the Polish Hill Arts Festival (Sunday, July 17) — so the artist will get some good exposure. We’re excited to see what Art Out of the Box has in store for Polish Hill this summer!
