PWSA & Iron City Brewing. On July 27, Councilman Dowd called on the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority to collect $1 million in debt from Iron City Brewing Company. The press release and resolution are on our website. Additional coverage by the Post Gazette and Pittsburgh Business Times.
Verizon Franchise Agreement. On August 31 at 1:00 pm, City Council will hold a public hearing on the Verizon Cable Franchise agreement. To testify before Council, please call the City Clerk at 412.255.2142 to register.
New Legislation
Cleaning up Car Lots. Councilman Dowd introduced legislation in July to improve screening and landscaping requirements for car lots and equipment sales in neighborhood business districts. The legislation is at the Planning Commission for approval and then comes back to City Council for a hearing. More information on all legislation is available on our website
Heads-up on Development. Some large scale developments do not always require public notice. This technical amendment to the zoning code introduced by Councilman Dowd in July, ensures that so-called “Planned Unit Developments” notify adjacent property owners of any development applications.

August 4 – August 28: Summer recess. Council is on summer recess. Our office will be staffed but no Council meetings will be held.
August 6: Council to Go. From 4:30 to 6:00 pm, Councilman Dowd and staff will be at the Bloomfield Farmers’ Market for Council to Go, our mobile constituent service counter. The Bloomfield Farmers’ Market is located in the ImmaculateConception Church parking lot at Friendship Avenue and Edmond Street.
August 21: Council to Go. Please join us in Lawrenceville from 7:30 to 9:00 am at Perk Me Up. Perk Me Up is located at 4407 Butler St.
August 27: Council to Go. From 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Councilman Dowd and staff will be in Morningside at the Morning Glory Café for Council to Go. Morning Glory Café is located at 1806 Chislett Street.
