A couple of fun things to do this weekend

On Friday Sept 13th is “That’s not her toe, Dude”, an evening of Lebowski-related activities and a screening of the original motion picture The Big Lebowski.  The event will take place at the Bayardstown Social Club, at 3008 Penn Avenue in Lawrenceville.  The event is $10 and the attractions will include a costume contest, robes, In & Out-style burgers, three bands playing the soundtrack to the Big Lebowski, White Russians, beer, pub quiz, guess how many pairs of dirty undies in a suitcase, bowling ball polishing competition, nihilists, a tape deck w/ Creedence and more.  Arrive early — there’s a good chance this will sell out.  A couple of other things to know:  in case of rain, the event will be at Artists Image Resource, on the North Side.  Check Pittsburgh Abides for more inside details.

We posted recently about Weather Permitting, the Sunday concert series at the Shadyside Nursery.  This Sunday, September 15, is the last of these events.  Come out from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. to hear The Red Western (alt country Americana), The City Buses (indie rockers), and Amun Raqs, (Egyptian surf cabaret, with live bellydancer Jemeena).  Other attractions include a special mystery guest (clue:  architects), beer by Rock Bottom Brewery, the Lomito Truck and another food option TBA.  The event is $10.  Shadyside Nursery is located at 510 Maryland Ave — enter thru parking lot next to the Harris Grill.
