Arts festival update: band lineup

The Polish Hill Arts Festival is just twelve days away now, and we’re into the final stretch, pulling things together.  Above is our fantastic poster, by artist Andy Scott.  A lot of people have been asking what bands are playing this year, so here’s the scoop, complete with photos.  These are in no particular order — we haven’t finalized the performance schedule.

Timbeleeza is the Brazillian samba drum band that played at the last two arts festivals.  Everyone was asking if they were coming back to play again, and we’re glad that they are.

The Panther Hollow String Band plays old-time Appalachian dance music.  This is their first year playing the festival.  Performing with the band are members of the Coal Country Cloggers.

FOOD is a Polish Hill band (well, two members out of three) fronted by Ed Crawford, aka Ed from Ohio, who used to be in fIREHOSE and other bands, and Eric Vermillion.  Drummer Mike Quinlan rounds out the trio.

Moldies and Monsters are a cover band that Joy Toujours recommended to us…and if Joy likes them, they must be great!

Bridgette Perdue is a young singer-songwriter who’s making a name for herself in Pittsburgh and beyond.  Bridgette played at the Free4All Music Festival in Polish Hill last year.

Lungs Face Feet, a Cumbrian-style brass marching band were on our festival wish list.  Happily, they said yes!  You might have heard their infectious sounds leading the Polish Hill May Day parade.

The duo of Daryl Fleming and Megan Williams will do their brand of “New Americana”, which you can check out on Daryl’s website.

We hope to add two more bands, so stay tuned.  Check our festival page for updates and more information.
