State Sen. Jim Ferlo (D-Pittsburgh) is hosting a benefit concert for the Freeport Renaissance Association & Roaring Run Watershed Association.
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra String Ensemble, with lead conductor Andres Cardenas, will be performing a Christmas Concierto at the Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth Avenue, Freeport, Armstrong County, Saturday, Nov. 22.
Light refreshments, provided by Senator Ferlo, will be served at 6 p.m., followed by an opening performance by the Shadyside Academy Jazz Combo at 6:30 p.m. The main performance by the symphony’s string ensemble will follow at 7 p.m. Seating is limited.
“The Freeport Renaissance Association and Roaring Run Watershed Association are vital assets for the Kiski Valley,” Ferlo said. “This community concert will help generate awareness of their important work and help raise money for their community activities. I am grateful to the symphony for its long-standing commitment to community outreach.”
Food donations for the Freeport United Methodist Church food pantry will be collected at the door prior to the concert.
Tickets are $10 each and are general admission seating. For more information, please call 724-230-2000 or visit Sen. Ferlo’s website at www.senatorferlo.com.
The evening’s Gold Sponsor is Chester Engineers and their $2,500 donation will go directly to the sponsoring community groups.
“This is yet another example of how dedicated citizen advocates can make a positive difference,” Ferlo said. “Three great organizations are coming together to help preserve our region’s history, protect our environment and embrace the arts. This is a wonderful opportunity for people to engage in their community.”
