County to Host First Friday Food Festival June 5 in Courthouse Courtyard

Allegheny County will host the first Friday Food Festival of the summer tomorrow, June 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Courthouse. Italian fare, including lasagna, hot sausage, salad and Italian cookies, will be available for purchase with prices from $5 to $7. The food will be prepared by members of the Italian Sons & Daughters of America, and proceeds will benefit the ISDA Cultural Heritage Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Along with food sales, ISDA members will be selling tickets for Italian Day at Kennywood on Tuesday, July 21. Members of the renowned folk group, I Campagnoli, will be on hand dressed in traditional costume and playing Italian songs. The Columbus Day Parade committee will have representatives providing information regarding the 2009 Columbus Day Parade.

Additional Friday Food Festivals this summer include Ribs & Wings on June 19, Hot Dogs & Ice Cream on July 10, Caribbean on July 17, Polish on Aug. 7, and German on Aug. 21. In the event of inclement weather, festivals may be rescheduled.
