We are looking for volunteers to help plant spring flowers at West Penn Recreation Center on Saturday May 30. We’ll be meeting at 8AM at the corner of 30th and Brereton St. Come out, get dirty and meet your neighbors! Lunch provided.

Don’t miss POP UP PITTSBURGH! “Uptown on the Move” on May 30, 2009. This free, one-day event will highlight Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood through a traveling block party. POP UP PITTSBURGH! aims to engage and positively affect the Uptown community while encouraging residents from throughout the region to experience its assets and imagine its potential. There will be a benefit show for Polish Hill’s Art What You Got festival at Gooski’s on Saturday May 30, starting at 9 pm.  Admission is $5, which gets you an eclectic lineup that starts with UkuLizzy and folk/roots music from Horse or Cycle.  Then the mood shifts to a dance party, with DJ Mary Mack and DJ ja(M) (bo)X playing 80’s, dance and punk, with Blissy doing projected images.  This atypical mix will hopefully confuse the folks who travel to Polish Hill on Saturday evenings for that rock-n-roll dive bar experience.  For the punks, artists and everyone else who likes to dance it all out at Mary Mack’s Operation Sappho  night at Remedy, this is for you.  Please come out, shake that thing, and support the art festival
