Hay Day (and other fun October events for kids)

The annual Hay Day celebration will take place on Sat., Oct. 10, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Hartwood Park.  Families can enjoy a variety of free activities, including musical entertainment, crafts, face painting, spin art, pony rides, petting zoo, inflatable jumping toys, and safety displays.

Hay Day takes place at Hartwood’s Middle Road Performance Area. All activities are free.
Food, beverages and crafts will be available for purchase. Hay Day is a rain or shine event.

Later in the month (and closer to home), West Penn Recreation Center is offering a field trip to Triple B Farms for a hayride, Pumpkinland (with more than 200 pumpkin-headed cartoon animals), the Boo Barn, a rope maze and animals.  The trip is $5 per child, $10 for adults, and is limited to 25 people.  Trip departs from West Penn at 3:30 pm and returns at 8 pm.  Call West Penn Rec at 412.622.7353 to sign up.

And on October 30 at 5:30 is the annual kid’s Halloween event at West Penn.  This year, they’re creating a path through the woods to the old tennis courts.  There will also be refreshments for the kids.  For more information call Willa at West Penn at 412.622.7353 or Susan Constanse at PHCA, 412.681.1950.
