This looks like it’s going to be a really fun event. And if you like growing and using your own herbs, it would definitely be worth checking out.
Buy herbs and learn how to cook, grow and enjoy them at the Herb Society’s Herb Plant Sale to be held outside of Trader Joe’s, a specialty grocery store located 343 Penn Ave. (East Liberty) Pittsburgh PA 15206 on Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 10am to 4 pm.
Hundreds of unusual and beautiful herbs, including the more popular ones that we all know and love, will be for sale as well as Bay Laurel Trees (Herb of the Year 2009), herbal gifts and The Herb Society of America’s Essential Guide to Growing and Cooking With Herbs Cookbook. Besides a wide assortment of basils, cilantros and the Simon & Garfunkel herbs–parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme–scented geraniums like nutmeg, lemon, chocolate mint and rose will also be available for sale. Members of HSA’s Western Pennsylvania Unit will be on hand as personal shoppers and welcome the opportunity to educate purchasers on the many uses and benefits of herbs. It is recommended to come early for best selection. In keeping with being “green” for this event, those attending are encouraged to bring a wagon, cart or other appropriate container to carry their herbs; recyclable paper bags and trays will also be available.
To pre-order herb plants for pick up the day of the sale OR for more information, please visit www.herbsociety.org Calendar of Events Section, Great Lakes District OR contact Peggy Trevanion at 412-418-1182 or westernpahsa@yahoo.com.
