Saturday was the May Day parade, a new Polish Hill tradition now in its third year. Organized by a group of artists and musicians who live in the neighborhood, the parade honors both the international celebration of the worker, and of the coming of spring.
The brightly costumed marchers started on Melwood, just outside the border of Polish Hill, then walked through the neighborhood. Many residents stepped outside to watch the parade pass by.
The marchers stopped at the Polish Hill sign on Melwood for a group photo. Lots of kids!
The parade ended at West Penn Park, with a cookout and a baseball game.
