On Saturday, Polish Hill got it’s own May Day parade, with costumes, floats, puppets, kids, dogs, and of course, a marching band. The parade began in Oakland at Pittsburgh Filmmakers on Melwood and moved down Gold Way into Polish Hill.
After passing the Rock Room, the parade went on Dobson, then up to Brereton, past the church, and down to West Penn Park, where they were greeted with a maypole decorated with streamers and flowers.
The group of about seventy people, plus many delighted spectators, hung out in the park for an hour or so, eating, listening to music, and playing. It was great to see the park so full of people.
