Tonight is Downtown Pittsburgh’s Light Up Night, which seems a bit early to us, but no matter. It’s a good time to give you advance notice so you can mark your calendars for Friday December 2 from 6-8 p.m., when Polish Hill greets its holiday season.
We had to change the name of this annual event, since Downtown trademarked theirs last year and we can’t afford to get sued. So Polish Hill has Light Up the Street Night, which starts at 6:00 p.m. with caroling from members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church choir. Then we’ll light the tree at the monument, and residents of any age can stop in to the PHCA office open house for refreshments and to get Polish Hill-flavored photos taken with Santa.
This is an Around the Block event too, and includes the businesses in our neighborhood center such as Urban Gypsy gift shop and Copacetic Comics and bookstore. Businesses will be open late for holiday shopping, and some will have added attractions like refreshments or special offers for the evening. We hope you will stop by!
