In an effort to raise awareness about sustainable, green stimulus programs available through federal and state government as part of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (Federal Stimulus Funding) and Pennsylvania’s Energy Independence Strategy, state Sen. Jim Ferlo (D-Pittsburgh) will host his 6th Annual Community Leader Luncheon tomorrow, Thursday, May 7 at 12 p.m. at the Soldiers & Sailors War Memorial & Museum in Oakland.
Keynote speakers, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Secretary, John Hanger and Community & Economic Development Acting Secretary, will be joined by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.
Topics of discussion are expected to include how the state departments are prioritizing stimulus funding and what programs are being utilized to efficiently deploy the federal funding. New water and infrastructure programs will be discussed along with the role each department has in fostering a green economy, and encouraging Pennsylvania’s transformation towards energy independence.
