Lots of people love the library so much that they’re going to stay up all night to prove it, and you’re invited. Join Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and friends for Read to the People: 1440@4400, a 24-hour read aloud on the front steps of Carnegie Library Main in Oakland. Library supporters will be reading aloud from their favorite books from noon on Friday, October 14 through noon on Saturday, October 15 to urge the community to get out and vote YES in support of the Our Library, Our Future initiative on the November 8 ballot. Come to read aloud or listen or both, just be there to show how much you love Carnegie Library Pittsburgh!
There will be activities and visits from Pittsburgh celebrities such as actor David Conrad, Councilman Patrick Dowd, Councilman Bruce Kraus, Councilman Bill Peduto and Abby Lee Miller from Lifetime’s Dance Moms. If you would like to read at the event, please email readtothepeople@carnegielibrary.org and come join in at what will be an unforgettable event.
As election day draws near, it is more critical than ever that the community rallies around Our Library, Our Future and spreads the word about the critical nature of the initiative. For more information or to make a donation to the voter initiative, please visit www.ourlibraryourfuture.org.
