The Clean Pittsburgh Commission honored 12 volunteers, seven groups and five neighborhoods for their work cleaning up and controlling litter in Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods.
The volunteers were nominated by Public Works division managers for the “Bobbies” awards, named for former mayor Bob O’Connor. Among the volunteers were Deb Josniak and Josie Ramsey, both of Polish Hill. Many residents know Deb and Josie for their work on the flowerbeds at 30th and Brereton and other green lots in the neighborhood, as well as neighborhood clean-ups. These ladies do a lot to make Polish Hill a better looking place to live. Congratulations, Deb and Josie!
Speaking of neighborhood clean-up…Polish Hill’s clean-up day is Saturday, April 18. Come out and join us! Volunteers will meet at the PHCA office at 3060 Brereton Street at 9:30 am. We will provide gloves, bags, and snacks. Come out, clean up, get some exercise, and meet some of your neighbors.
