Many thanks go out to Allegheny County residents for participating in the special recycling events in North and South parks last Saturday. The County partnered with Global Links to collect used medical items, which will be donated to recovery efforts in Haiti. Residents donated 109 pairs of crutches, 65 canes, 22 wheelchairs, 36 walkers, one nebulizer, and assorted braces, post-op boots, and other medical supplies.
“Allegheny County residents have once again shown their compassion by donating medical items that are critically needed in Haiti,” said County Executive Dan Onorato. “By directing these still useful items to Haiti, we’re also keeping them out of landfills.”
