Kids’ health-insurance sign-up day Sept. 19

Now that the new school year has begun, I want to make sure no child goes without health coverage. Pennsylvania’s Children’s Health Insurance Program, known as CHIP, offers coverage for uninsured children (up to age 19) who are not eligible for Medical Assistance.

Coverage is no-cost, low-cost or at-cost, depending on family income, but there is no income limit – and “pre-existing conditions” don’t keep kids out. CHIP includes doctor visits, dental care, eye care, prescriptions, immunizations and much more.

I will host a CHIP sign-up and information day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at my constituent service office, 3880 Perrysville Ave., Pittsburgh.

If you or someone you know has an uninsured child, please come to the sign-up day, visit my Web site  — www.pahouse.com/Walko — for more information on CHIP or call my office at 412-321-5523.
