Polish Hill Light Up the Street Night, Friday December 3, 6-9 p.m.

Mark your calendars — Polish Hill’s Light Up the Street Night is on Friday, December 3rd —  just nine days away!  The evening will also be an Around the Block event, showcasing the merchants in our small business district bounded by Brereton, Dobson, and Hancock streets.

The event begins at 6 as the tree at the monument at Brereton and Dobson streets is lit, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church choir sing carols, and Santa will arrive.  Kids can get their picture taken with Santa and get a small treat.  (Parents can pick up a free print of the photo later.)

The Polish Hill Civic Association office will be open, with a display of photos from the new-and-growing Polish Hill archive.  There will also be a pomander ball -making activity with Blythe (aka the woman who makes all the fabulous food for the coffee shop).  The PHCA will have t-shirts, cards, and other fundraising items for sale.

Businesses open for the evening include Lili Coffee* Shop, the Urban Gypsy gift shop, Copacetic Comics and book shop, and Mindcure Records.  For the adults, Sarneys bar will be open, with their renowned display of lights; and Gooski’s, which would be the place to go if you need hot, perfectly-cooked pierogis.

Some of the businesses will also be offering light refreshments, special offers for that evening only, or coupons for later.  There will be live music at Lili Coffee* Shop.  This event is still growing, so we’ll keep you updated!
