Another fire, this one at 3550 Cargill

We regret to report that Polish Hill has just seen it’s second fire in a week, this one at 3550 Cargill Street.  The fire started around 6:30 pm, and firefighters were still on the scene more than two hours later.  The  house was completely destroyed.  The elderly resident escaped without injury.  We don’t yet know the cause of the fire.

The firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighboring house at 3548.  The only damage to that house was to the siding.

After the burning house collapsed, firefighters continued dousing the wreckage.  The Red Cross and the Salvation Army were on the scene to provide assistance to residents.

There isn’t much more we can say at the moment.  It’s a terrible irony to be posting again so soon about a fire.

  1. Maybe it’s time for us, as a community, to check and make sure everyone has Smoke Detectors (and that they have good batteries ! ) Senior Citizens can often be lax in this area.
