The Mysterious Letters art project has certainly succeeded in getting people talking, which was the stated intention of the artists. It’s also getting media attention, which was probably another goal. Just today, the PHCA office has received two calls and one in-person visit from journalists writing about the story.
Someone also sent us a link to a short video about the artists in which they discuss the project and their reasons for choosing Polish Hill You can watch that here.
Our original blog post has accumulated some interesting comments, too.
One way in which the artists didn’t reach their goals: they apparently intended to send letters to everyone in Polish Hill. They sent about 650 letters out, so they actually got less than half the residents. Letters were addressed to building owners. None of the renters, who make up a sizeable percentage of our population, got a letter.
