The PHCA monthly community meeting is held on the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings start at 6:30 pm in the senior center, on the lower level of West Penn Recreation Center.
At this month’s meeting, we will provide updates on the Polish Hill Arts Festival, the Free4All Music Festival, and talk about disruptive properties, which seem to bloom in warm weather. Another concern in warmer weather are pests; Suzanne Pyle, a PHCA member and Polish Hill resident who works for the Allegheny County Health Department, will talk about mosquitoes, which you may have noticed, are more plentiful this year. Last summer, the ACHD found a mosquito on Melwood Avenue that tested positive for the West Nile virus. The ACHD is keeping a close eye on the situation this year. For more information, read this factsheet about how you can help stop mosquito breeding.
As always, if you have neighborhood concerns or announcements, this is the place to bring them up. We hope to see you there!
And don’t forget, the next Council-to-Go meeting will be on Thursday, July 15 at 6:30 pm, at Lili Coffee Shop. For concerns that call for quick action by City departments, Councilman Patrick Dowd can help expedite response.
