Each fall brings PHCA board elections, when some positions are up for re-election and any empty positions can be filled. Last week, the board elections committee sent out nomination forms to current members of the PHCA who live in Polish Hill. If you are a current member who lives in Polish Hill, a nomination form was mailed to you. We hope that you will fill it out and return it to the PHCA by October 2. Forms can be mailed or dropped by our office.
To be nominated, an individual must meet these three requirements:
— live in Polish Hill
— have been a regular member of the PHCA (with dues fully paid) for at least a year
— have attended at least four monthly community meetings in the last 12 months (Oct 2011 to Oct 2012)
Being a PHCA board member requires time and dedication. Responsibilities include attending monthly board and community meetings, representing the PHCA at meetings for state and city topics, and participating in the work of the organization (such as serving on committees, helping with neighborhood cleanups, and volunteering at community events). As a small, mostly volunteer organization, the Polish Hill Civic Association relies heavily on its board members. The PHCA needs caring, capable, and reliable people who have time to give. The people we elect should have the best interests of the neighborhood and all of its residents in mind.
After the nominations have been reviewed, the election ballots will be mailed out in October, to be returned in November. The new board members will be announced at the December 4, 2012 community meeting at West Penn Recreation Center.
