Memorial Day is a civil holiday in tribute to those who died in service to our nation. This day is also, for many, an occasion to visit the gravesites of our departed relatives and friends. This is a wonderful tradition. The Catholic community has great reverence for cemeteries and the holy work of remembrance and prayer that takes place there. This Memorial Day, or whenever you visit the cemetery where your loved ones are buried, allow the visit to be a spiritual pilgramage.
