MOVEPGH Community Workshop #4 looks at transporation issues in the East End

MOVEPGH is the transportation aspect of PLANPGH,  Pittsburgh’s first comprehensive plan, now underway.  MOVEPGH Community Workshop #4 will focus on transportation issues in Pittsburgh’s East End neighborhoods.  This large area includes all the neighborhoods between the rivers (except for Downtown/Lower Hill and the riverfronts – Click here to view a map of the workshop focus geographies).  Polish Hill, of course, is part of this area.

The workshop is open to the public – even if you do not live in these areas.  Join the MOVEPGH team to discuss walkability, highways, transit, bicycling, and more.  Anyone interested in these issues is welcome to drop in anytime during the three open sessions shown below, and stay as long as you like!

Where: Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – East Liberty Branch (130 S. Whitfield St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206)
Session dates: Monday, August 6  11:00AM – 7:00PM
Tuesday, August 7  11:00AM – 5:30PM
Wednesday, August 8  11:00AM – 3:00PM

Wrap-Up Event: A MOVEPGH team progress report for the week on Wednesday, August 8  6:00-8:00PM, also at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – East Liberty Branch.

These “design studio” workshops are multi-disciplinary, working design sessions where stakeholders, designers, technical experts, and the public work together to develop, design and plan solutions.  The MOVEPGH team works all week long in a different location for each of the four Workshops to develop and test various design and planning ideas related to:
transportation solutions for areas of change and redevelopment;
expanding multi-modal choice;
developing street designs and complete streets;
creating interlinked bike, pedestrian, transit, and street networks;
protecting areas of no change;
expanding connectivity;
selectively expanding vehicle capacity

Biking & Walking Audits

Resident input is also needed for neighborhood Biking & Walking Audits.  Join the MOVEPGH team for walking and biking audits as they tour East End neighborhoods. This is your chance to take a walk or ride a bike with your neighbors and engage in discussion that improves the City’s pedestrian and bicycle friendliness. Tours will begin at the East Liberty Carnegie Library and will canvass adjacent neighborhoods. There are five times to choose from:

Sunday, August 5 4:00PM
Monday, August 6 12:00PM
Monday, August 6 6:00PM
Tuesday, August 7 12:00PM
Tuesday, August 7 6:00PM
