Polish Hill lost a long-time resident when Nellie T. Andrzejewski passed away on Wednesday, March 5. Nellie was an independent, stubborn 91-year-old who, until last month, lived alone and climbed four flights of steps daily to get her mail. Nellie cared for her brother Michael for many years after he was injured in World War II, and after he passed away she preserved his rooms just as he left them. In recent years Nellie didn’t go out much, but she watched Polish Hill goings-on from her windows.
Nellie was grateful to the Polish Hill residents who offered their generous assistance in her final years. Services were held on Saturday March 7th and were attended by family and neighbors.
We will miss you Nellie
My dear friend, Eventhough you are only gone for a short time I miss our visits together and helping you. I miss you so very much. I know that you have met up with your mom, dad and brother Michael in heaven and are probably very happy now that you are all together. I will keep you in my prayers forever. Thanks for the memories I will charish them forever!!
