Sculptor Paul Bowden, who has lived and worked in Polish Hill for several years, is currently showing his work alongside that of his father Robert Bowden, a realist watercolor painter. The joint show at the Mendelson Gallery in Shadyside runs through December 12.
Polish Hill residents may be familiar with Paul’s work; he created the first and only Sprout Fund sculptural project, which debuted on a very cold November evening last year. The sculpture, on the side of the new Tai + Lee offices (3106 Brereton Street), is particularly visible at night, when a motion sensor turns on a small spotlight on two small figures examining a hole in the side of the building.
There was a very nice article about the Bowden’s show in the Post-Gazette today, it includes some images of the Bowden’s works.
The Mendelson Gallery is located at 5873 Ellsworth Ave. Show runs through Dec. 12. Hours are 12-5, Wednesdays through Saturdays. For more information call 412-361-8664.
