Work has begun on greening the Dobson and Herron lot. Debris has been removed from the lot. The sculpture that was homed there has been retrieved by its owner. A tree was removed from the lot. Joe McCarthy, from Penn State, is working with Pittsburgh on greening the city. The soil from the lot tested fine, with no heavy metal poisoning. To come is seating and some additional flowers, including roses.
This project is part of Green Up Pittsburgh, administered by the Neighborhood Initiative of the Mayor’s Office. This innovative program converts city-owned vacant lots into pocket parks withthe help of our neighbors.
