Resurfacing Bigelow Boulevard near the old Bloomfield Bridge, 1926

This is the corner where the Bloomfield Bridge and Bigelow Boulevard meet, right at the border between Polish Hill and Oakland.  The bridge is in the center of the photo, leading to Bloomfield.  The bridge has been rebuilt, but it’s in essentially the same place.  As these photos show, there have been multiple billboards at this location for decades.  We can only hope that this doesn’t mean we’re stuck with the increasing number (and ugliness) of them  for decades to come.
