Allegheny County Department of Human Services Holiday Project

The holiday season is a time of giving and joy, of presents, gifts and celebration. Ask any child and they will say it is a time of toys and gifts, whether the holiday is Christmas, Hanukah or Kwanza. Though for some children this year their holidays will not have any gifts or presents. This holiday season in Allegheny County there are over 5000 children in 3300 families in need under the care of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services through the Office of Children, Youth and Families. Many of these children are victims of broken homes, domestic violence and abuse, and poverty and their only hope for a holiday gift is you. The Holiday Project continually struggles to provide these youths with gifts at this time of year. Can you imagine how you would have felt as a child during the holidays, if you had no gift? You can make the difference in their lives; you can let them know that someone cares. You can bring a smile to their faces and warmth to their hearts. You could give a gift of love that could change their lives.

Please donate a toy to these abused and neglected children in need by dropping a toy off at any Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Zone in the designated boxes. While many generous donors focus on the little ones, teens also need and crave the normalcy of a happy, gift-filled holiday season as well.
