PennDOT District 11 is announcing the ramp connecting northbound (outbound) I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard) to Bigelow Boulevard in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will be closed on Thursday night, Feb. 28 weather permitting.

The closure will occur from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. on Friday. Crews will working on an overhead bridge.

Posted detour:

·       Take the Centre Avenue/Consol Energy Center exit

·       Make left onto Washington Place

·       Continue to Bigelow Boulevard

To help keep motorists informed as work on Crosstown Boulevard and the Veterans Bridge continues PennDOT offers an email distribution list for I-579 traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses to jstruzzi@pa.gov and writing “Subscribe – I-579” in the subject line.

The work is part of the $36 million Crosstown Boulevard/Veterans Bridge Preservation Projects Phases I & II. The prime contractor for the projects is the Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh. Construction will conclude in 2013.
